MELISSA SPEVACEK is the founding executive director of The Studio and an active member of Actors Equity. She was last seen reviving her role of Sharon in Master Class at The Peninsula Player Theatre in Door County, Wisconsin. Melissa's favorite productions include: Master Class ( Sharon ) at The Royal Alexandria Theatre starring Elizabeth Ashley, Northlight Theatre, and an east coast tour produced by Columbia Artists Management. Other credits include Strike Up the Band at The Auditorium Theatre starring Bea Arthur, Side Show (Violet) at Northlight Theatre, My Fair Lady (Eliza) at the Weston Playhouse, A Little Night Music (Anne) at Phoenix Theatre, Pirates of Penzance (Mabel) at the Weston Playhouse, Rags (Bella) Fulton Opera House, and Putting it Together (Maid) at Actors Theatre of Phoenix. Melissa has been teaching private voice/ piano lessons since she was a high school student in Moscow, Idaho. She is a scholarship graduate of Arizona State University with a degree in Choral Music Education, and has performed and recorded jingles, commercials, and oratorios nationally.

TODD ALSUP is a New York-based singer-songwriter. He is a graduate of New York University (summa cum laude) with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. After several years of working in musical theatre- most notably at North Shore Music Theatre, McCarter Theatre, and on the Columbia Artists’ national tour of the Gershwins’ “Strike Up The Band”, Todd has more recently focused his attention on a songwriting and recording career. Todd’s debut album “How I’m Made” was released to rave reviews and earned him attention from the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for the single “Unorginal”. He teaches voice, piano, and songwriting privately and is a current faculty member at New York University ’s CAP 21, where he teaches Music Theory. He is currently at work recording a second album of original songs. He is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), New York Singing Teachers’ Association (NYSTA), the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), the Songwriters’ Guild of America (SGA), and the National Academy of Popular Music (NAPM).

Harold Barnard II has a bachelors and masters in music from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Harold has been playing guitar since his junior year in high school almost 15 years ago and has been writing his own music for the last 5 years. As well as playing guitar and writing music, Harold is also an actor and has been on several national tours and in many regional theater productions. Harold teaches voice lessons and guitar lessons in NYC when not auditioning and is proud to be a part of the staff at the Studio in New Canaan.

Beth Bright, a Detroit native, is thrilled be teaching at The Studio. She holds a B.M. from Western Michigan University in Vocal Performance, Jazz Studies and French, and an M.M. from the University of Colorado in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy. She divides her time equally between teaching, acting and professional singing. Beth has taught private voice, conducted and lectured at the University of Colorado , Roosevelt University ’s Music Conservatory, and at New Trier High School . Her acting career has taken her to the Improv Olympic in Chicago , aboard Disney Cruise Line’s flagship, the Magic, and most recently, to Los Angeles to sing on the soundtrack of the Disney film, Enchanted. She has appeared in many operas, concerts, musicals and cover bands, and can be heard in commercials, as well as on Stephen Spielberg’s audiobook, The Emperor’s New Clothes. Beth’s teaching specialty is vocal health and musical integrity within a variety of styles. She also loves equipping young professional actors with business skills, and coaches artistic entrepreneurship. Beth is pleased to be a student of Victoria Clark.

JANE BURGESS is a native of West Virginia and holds a Bachelor's Degree as well as an Artist Diploma from Duquesne University located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania . While at Duquesne Jane studied with world renowned soprano, Claudia Pinza, daughter of Ezio Pinza. Under the guidance of Ms. Pinza, Jane also studied in Italy for three summers as part of Ezio Pinza Council for American Singers of Opera. As a classical singer she performed the roles of Laurie in "The Tenderland", Lauretta in "Giannii Schicchi" andHansel in "Hansel and Gretel". After moving to NYC two years ago, Jane decided to cross over into musical theatre. Last year she could be heard as an ensemble member of "Hip-Hopera", a nationally broadcast radio parody sketch produced by United Stations Networks. Jane is recently played Ava Gardner in an off-off Broadway production entitled "That's Life" and was also a part of the cast of an off-Broadway production entitled "The Hat Left Behind".

Micah Burgess is a recipient of the Eubie and Marion Blake Jazz Performance Scholarship and has studied with some of the best improviser s in the world ncluding John Scofield, Kenny Werner, Bruce Arnold, and Tony Moreno. While earning a Master's Degree at New York University, Micah performed with Saturday Night Live's Lenny Pickett, Teo Macero, Kenny Werner, Brian Lynch, and Dave Pietro. His professional credits also include performances with averne and Shirley's Eddie Mekka, Fabian, Bobby Rydell, and Danny and the Juniors. Recording credits include, "Inside Al Gore's Brain" - a political comedy bit for National Public Radio, Mainspring, Matthew Murchison, Stephen Sprouse, and The New York University Graduate Jazz Orchestra featuring Lenny Pickett. As a composer, he has written music for stage and film including the Off-Broadway production of "The Hat Left Behind" as well as a documentary entitled "I Am Bombay" which was a featured selection at the 2006 Indo American Arts Council Film Festival in New York City. As an instructor, Micah recently held adjunct positions at Duquesne University's City Music Center and New York University. He is currently teaching at the Amadeus Conservatory of Music in Westchester County, New York as well as the Queens Conservatory. As a clinician and lecturer, he has presented at New York University as well as various high schools.

JOEY CLARK works in and around New York City as an actor, musical director, director, teaching artist, vocal coach and composer. He has performed at such venues as the McCarter Theatre, Syracuse Stage, Columbia University, and as a regular cabaret artist at The Duplex. Working with a wide range of students (ages 3 to 101), Joey teaches acting, voice, piano, and cultural music in th e tri-state area. As a director, he has produced several national educational tours, and his musical directing credits include summerstocks, community theaters, and an array of off-off broadway productions and cabaret acts. Lori Brooke Cohan is a working, professional actor/singer in NYC as well as an accomplished pianist. She has performed at the Barrington Stage Company, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Forestburgh Playhouse, as well as in national tours and NYC readings and festivals. She has music directed at the Forestburgh Playhouse, Williamstown Theatre Festival, and The Studio Summer Camps (ANNIE, PETER PAN, and LION KING). Maria Davidson grew up dancing and choreographing in Minnesota and went on to receive her degree in dance from Point Park University before moving to New York. She was most recently seen dancing in the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall where she has spent many seasons. Some of her favorite shows include Chicago, Anything Goes , and 42 nd Street where she played Lorraine in the National Tour. She has also been an original cast member in the American Premieres of We Will Rock You, Hot Shoe Shuffle, and Scandals . In addition to an extensive theatre career, Maria has danced in many industrials and commercials. Television appearances include The Rosie O'Donnell Show, Sex and the City, HBO's KO Nation , and performances for ABC with the casts of Ugly Betty and All My Children. She has choreographed musicals, industrials, and her original work was selected by the Kennedy Center for its National Gala Showcase. She teaches workshops around the country and is an instructor for NYU's Cap 21 and the Tisch School of the Arts Summer Intensive.

Janine DaVita, originally from Overland Park , Kansas was most recently seen in the pre-Broadway run of A TALE OF TWO CITIES in Sarasota , Florida where she served as Dance Captain and lead understudy (Lucie). More NYC theatre: THE DAY BEFORE SPRING (York Theatre), NOT EXACTLY ROMEO. Other regional credits include Dot/Marie in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, Sister Mary Amnesia in NUNSENSE (Heritage Repertory Theatre), the title role in CINDERELLA (KC Lyric), ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, SINGIN' IN THE RAIN (St. Louis MUNY), HELLO DOLLY! Starring Michelle Lee (Regional Tour). Janine is a proud 2007 graduate of the University of Michigan 's prestigious musical theatre program and serves as a guest teacher for Jodie Langel's "Making it On Broadway" workshops and intensives. At the University of Michigan, Janine had the honor of playing numerous roles including: Alaura in CITY OF ANGELS, Kathy in COMPANY, Ginevra King in Pete Mill's THE PURSUIT OF PERSEPHONE, Penelope Pennywise in URINETOWN, and the Vanessa Redgrave originated role of Fania Fenelon in Arthur Miller's PLAYING FOR TIME- a performance for which she received rave reviews during the monumental, inaugural opening of the one and only Arthur Miller theatre. Janine resides in NYC and is beginning a new collegiate musical theatre consulting business in which she will guide high school students in choosing audition repertoire and finding the perfect school to fit his or her artistic wants and needs. Jesse Factor is from Mercer, PA. He holds a BFA from the Tisch School at NYU. National Tours include CATS (Skimblehanks) and Scrooge: The Musical (Dance Captain). Regional credits include multiple productions of A Chorus Line, The Music Man , CATS , and West Side Story . European Tour of Cabaret (Gorilla Specialty). He has taught theatre dance in the states as well as abroad in such cities as Moscow, Istanbul, and Hong Kong for the International Schools Theatre Association (ISTA). Jesse recently staged a production of CATS at Vermont's Northern Stage Company which extended its sold-out run. He is currently dancing with the Martha Graham Ensemble while training full time at the Graham school in New York City.

Piper Goodeve is very excited to be back at The Studio after three years away. In those three years, Piper earned her MFA in Acting from Brown University/Trinity Repertory Consortium. Roles/shows there include: Desdemona in Desdemona by Paula Vogel, Maria in Twelfth NIght, Lucy in A Christmas Carol, Lena in A Mouthful of Birds, and leads in three new plays. In 2007 Piper originated the role of Anne in Anne of Green Gables Off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel, for which she was nominated for a Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance. She was a company member at the Weston Playhouse (where she first met Melissa!) for seven seasons, and has worked at the Peterborough Players, the Arvada Center in Denver, the Hangar Theater and the Battersea Arts Center. She has been a teacher of acting and musical theater at The Studio, The Next Generation at the Hangar Theater, Project Contemporary ompetitiveness at Bridgewater State College, and was an Assistant Teacher of Voice and Speech at Brown University/Trinity Rep. She has taught privately at Brown/Trinity and in NH, as well as being the Assistant Dialect coach on A Christmas Carol at Trinity Rep. She is very excited to be back and to work with such wonderful and talented kids!

Adrianne Hampton recently received rave reviews in Backstage West for her performance as Val in A Chorus Line in Los Angeles with Cabrillo Music Theatre, directed by Kay Cole (who originated the role of Maggie). She also played Cassie in A Chorus Line with the assistant director for the Broadway revival, Michael Gorman. Favorite credits include West Side Story (Graziella and dance captain) , The Arvada Center (The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Sweet Charity, On the Town, Annie Get Your gun and Oklahoma ) and The Country Dinner Playhouse ( Damn Yankees, Bye Bye Birdie, Guys and Dolls , Oklahoma and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers ). Adrianne co-produced, choreographed, and performed the role of Adelaide during a benefit performance for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. New York dance industrials include work by Rudy Benda Productions. Choreography credits include, Carousel Dinner Theatre, David Taylor Dance Theatre, Phoenix Theatre, Rocky Mountain Theatre for Kids, Colorado Performing Arts Academy, The Neighborhood Playhouse, and the Long Lake Performing Arts Camp. Adrianne has been a dance faculty member for Dance Extension's in NY, and the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, and has taught at dance schools throughout the Denver area. Adrianne is a proud member of Actors Equity Association, and is currently represented by the Carson Adler Agency in NY. Adrianne is thrilled to be part of this faculty!

Liz H elms grew up dancing in Northern Virginia. She attended Oklahoma City University's Dance Performance program for two years and has resided in New York City ever since. Liz trained extensively in Rhythm Tap with some of the greats of our time; such as Robert Reed, Buster Brown, and Chester Whitmore. She has performed with several companies in the Washington, D.C. area including the National Tap Ensemble and the Washington Opera. Some of her recent performing credits include "The Producers" National Tour, "Jubilee!" in Las Vegas, "Will Rogers Follies", "Kiss Me Kate", "The Merry Widow", "Oklahoma", "Hello Dolly!", and "Anything Goes". |
Liz Kimball is a dancer, singer, actress, and choreographer living in New York City. Originally from Philadelphia, Liz graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Theatre and English from Northwestern University in 2006. She is a recipient of the Sarah Siddons Scholarship for Music Theatre Excellence, the Joe Miller award, and the Lucia Perrigo Dance Scholarship. In New York Liz has performed in NYMF, at The York, in several off-off broadway musicals and readings, and as a back-up singer for Deborah Gibson at B.B. King's. Regionally she has performed roles in Hairspray (Amber, Weston Playhouse), A Christmas Carol (McCarter Theatre), The World Goes 'Round (Woman #2, Arizona Broadway Theatre) for which she received a Zoni Nomination for Best Actress, A Funny Thing Happened... (Marriott), and Cats (Surflight Theatre). Most recently Liz choreographed The Gondoliers at OperaDelaware, and prior to that served as the associate choreographer for the recent off-off-Broadway revival of Jones and Schmidt's Celebration . Other choreography credits include Once Upon a Mattress , Gypsy , and the American Music Theatre Project's inaugural production of Was , directed by Tina Landau, in which she also played a supporting role. Jodie Langel just completed the Pre-Broadway tryout of "The Tale of Two Cities" at the Asolo Repertory Theater in Sarasota , Fl. Jodie was last seen starring in I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change in New York . In March, Jodie will be playing the lead role of Rachel in the Broadway Bound " Warsaw ". She premiered on Broadway as the role of Cosette in Les Miserables while still attending NYU's Tisch School of the Arts (CAP 21), and later went on to play the role of Eponine. Her Broadway tour credits include the role of Bertrande in the Pre-Broadway tour of Martin Guerre (including runs at the Guthrie, Ahmanson, and Kennedy Center , the Narrator in the National Tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Grizabella in the National Tour of CATS, where she was the youngest person to ever portray the role. Regional credits include: Eva Peron in Evita at the Aladdin Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas and The North Carolina Theater, Robin in the revival of Smile, Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, Chess at Paper Mill Playhouse directed by Rob Marshall, the lead in a brand new musical at the legendary Eugene O Neill Theater Conference directed by Bobby Longbottom, and the West-Coast premiere of The Thing about Men. Jodie has been a featured lead soloist for President Clinton, St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra, the celebrated Lyric and Lyricists series at the 92nd Street YMCA, and the Mets/Yankees Subway Series! The book is a candid, behind the scenes, and sometimes shocking look at Broadway's stars and is comprised of her interviews with such notables as Jason Alexander, Brooke Shields, Chita Rivera, Deborah Gibson, Ann Miller, Antonio Banderas, Donna Murphy, and Idina Menzel. Jodie personally interviewed each of these Broadway stars as they shared their personal stories and struggles of climbing to the top. This book has been a top seller for four years and is required reading at the top conservatories around the country. Jeremy Leiner is a 2003 graduate of the University of Michigan -- B.F.A. Musical Theatre and a proud member of the Actors' Equity Association and Screen Actors ¹ Guild. Recently, Jeremy performed as Sweetie on the First National Tour of Bombay Dreams directed by Baayork Lee. Jeremy completed principal filming with Salma Hayek in the Sony Pictures/Revolution Studios film Across the Universe, directed by Julie Taymor. Previous credits include a year with the 25th Anniversary National Tour of Evita directed by Harold Prince and Larry Fuller. Other credits include Off-Broadway: Primrose. ALYSSA MACENANEY is a New York based actress, teacher, and director. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Hampshire where she majored in Theatre with an emphasis in performance technique and children's theatre education. Upon graduation she moved to Los Angeles where she spent the next several years working with some of the best LA has to offer; such as casting director Terry Berland and the amazing staff at Second City Improv. She joins us from Portsmouth , NH where she was a Teaching Artist for the New Hampshire Theatre Project. Since moving to New York three years ago, she has been teaching and performing in the greater Westchester region. Alyssa is best known for her work in film and television. She has been in various commercials, print ads, and independent films. Her recent accomplishments include television commercials for Slipperoo's, Marchon Eyewear, and Pittney Bows. Additional credits include McDonald's, Grounded for Life, Boston Public, and the S Club 7. Alyssa brings her passion and enthusiasm in drama, coupled with her industry knowledge, to teach our students how to master the craft of acting while also preparing them for successful auditioning experiences. |
ERIN ORTMAN : Originally from Helena , MT , graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Cincinnati , College-Conservatory of Music. She currently teaches vocal performance at NYU CAP21, serves as a teaching artist for Broadway Classroom and offers private acting training in Manhattan. Previous teaching credits include three years serving as the Education Director for The Play Group Theatre, Monologue Coach for the Senior Conservatory at The Paper Mill Playhouse, Director and Acting Instructor for the Grandstreet Theatre School Teen Conservatory, and Co-Founder of The Wide Awake Theatre Project. Her directing experience began in 2003 with a directing internship at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, where she continued to work through 2005. EST credits include assistant directing mainstage productions of "Thicker Than Water" and "Tooth and Claw", as well as directing many readings of new plays. She continues to create new works with various actors in New York , recent projects include "Rejected Showgirl" (with Tory Ross), "...My Sad Repartee" (with Benjamin Magnuson) and "Quiet Girl" (with Nikki Renee Daniels). Other credits include production and sales for "The Good Body" on Broadway, as well as associate producer credits for "The Screen Door Series" (EST), "Getting Wet" (EST) and the EST Summer Conference. BEN ROSEBERRY is a successful actor, singer and songwriter in New York City . He just recently finished the National Tour of "RENT" as Steve/understudy Mark. Other credits include multiple productions of "Forever Plaid" as Jinx and Frankie, Lamar in "Godspell", Charlie Brown in "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown", and Danny in readings of a new musical, "Tuesday". As a singer/songwriter, he has played many rock/cabaret venues in NY, such as Crash Mansion , The Triad and The Mean Fiddler, consistently performing to sell out crowds. He has sung with Shania Twain and David Haas, was a guest soloist with The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and has been a finalist on the prestigious "Amateur Night at the Apollo." SUZANNE RYDZ: A graduate of Fairfield University with a BA in Fine Arts, Suzanne studied abroad in London, England at the renowned Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA). Suzanne has performed throughout the US and Europe, working with: Anthony Hopkins, Kenneth Branagh and Joseph Finn es. Stage credits include: Nora in A Dolls House, Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing (NJSF), Ophelia in Hamlet (The Directors Project), Christine in A Chorus Line (Town Sq. Playhouse). TV credits include: Guiding Light, One Life to Live, Law & Order, The Sopranos. She has been in numerous print ad’s and commercials: Gateway, USAA, T-Mobile, and Tide. Last spring Suzanne went on the road with American Idol as their live city to city host. She has worked as a choreographer for the NJ Nets (NBA) Power & Motion, performed with Ashanti. Represented Reebok and New Balance as a featured dancer. Suzanne has traveled the country as a master teacher and edjudicator for several dance conventions. Joshua Lee Smith is originally from Anderson , Indiana . He received a Bachelor's Degree from Ball State University in Choral Music Education. While in university, he was a 2-year member of the world-renowned entertainment group, Ball State University Singers, under the direction of Dr. Fritz Mountford. Joshua also studied classical and musical theater voice with Dr. Phil Ewart and Mary Hagopian and jazz piano with Frank Puzzullo. After graduation, Joshua was lucky enough to travel the world and perform for 6 years. After several summers performing at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg , Virginia , he continued performing in PA, GA, and at the Mark II Dinner Theater in Orlando , FL. At the Mark II, he was Charles Clarke in Titanic and in the chorus of Man of La Mancha with Shelley Burch, former star of "One Life to Live" and Nine on Broadway. Joshua spent one summer aboard the Celebrity Constellation sailing to over 20 countries in the Caribbean, northern Europe, and Canada . In 2003 and 2005, Joshua was a performer at the Universal Studios theme park in Osaka , Japan where he also served as the vocal coach for the entire park for one year. While living in Japan , he had several voice and theory students amongst his fellow performers as well as residents of Japan . Joshua is very excited to be joining The Studio. |
Kevin David Thomas is and actor and music director/coach living in New York City. He has music directed productions of I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change (Willoughby Fine Arts), Fame, The Musical (Mercury Summer Stock), A Class Act (MSS), and Guys and Dolls (Saxe Middle School). As an actor, Kevin most recently was seen on Broadway in the revival of Les Miserables . He also toured in the final national company of Les Miserables for almost two years . Kevin has performed regionally at Weston Playhouse, Great Lakes Theater Festival, and Cleveland Play House. He has a bachelor of music in musical theater from Baldwin-Wallace College, Conservatory of Music. |

CHRIS YORK is an actor and musician originally from Indiana, where he graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Vocal and General Music Education. Chris just completed a year-long artistic fellowship at the Fulton Opera House in Lancaster, PA where, among many things, he performed in their mainstage and children's theatre productions, worked with their casting department, taught classes at the Fulton Academy, and composed the incidental score for the new play, "The Last Call at Tir Na Nog." Now living in New York City, Chris is extremely excited to be an instructor at The Studio and looks forward to working with so many new and wonderful students. |
