Body and Self Awareness: A Feldenkreis Worskshop for Singers
Sunday, September 12
12:00-3:30
The Studio
$40
As singers, we know very well that tension anywhere in our mind and body can have a profound affect on our vocal health and performance. But what many of us may not be aware of is the influence that seemingly unrelated, everyday movements can have on the quality of our voice.
Common actions such as, habitually favoring one side of your mouth when chewing or bearing a disproportionate amount of weight on one leg while walking can have a considerable affect on your muscular system which in turn can inhibit your breath and sound.
Adapting strategies used in the Feldenkrais Method, an education system designed to sync the relationship between body and mind, Movement for Singers will show you how to recognize and adjust personal movement habits and thinking patterns by gently re-educating your neuro-muscular system — all designed to empower you to enjoy a fuller sound and more efficient vocal production!
Please wear clothes that are comfortable for movement and bring a song selection for open coaching. This active and interactive class is appropriate (and fun) for singers of all ages.
