Micah Burgess holds a B.M. in Jazz Guitar from Duquesne University and an M.A. in Jazz Guitar from New York University. He has over ten years of private and group teaching experience and has taught at such prestigious institutions as New York University, the Queens Conservatory, and Duquesne University's City Music Center. He is a recipient of the Eubie and Marion Blake Jazz Performance Scholarship and has studied with some of the best improvisers in the world including John Scofield, Kenny Werner, Bruce Arnold, and Tony Moreno. As a guitarist, Micah is active on the New York musical theater scene. Recent shows include concert performances of Love, NY at New World Stage (NY) and Curtain Call (CT) as well as the 2009 Summer Play Festival performance of Departure Lounge at New York City's Public Theater. Other professional credits include performances with Brian Lynch, Fabian, Bobby Rydell, Danny and the Juniors, and Laverne and Shirley's Eddie Mekka. As a composer, he has written music for stage and film including the Off-Broadway production of The Hat Left Behind as well as a documentary entitled I Am Bombay, a featured selection at the 2006 Indo American Arts Council Film Festival in New York City and the 2007 Stuttgart Film Festival Germany.
