Michael Sample
Michael Sample currently resides in New York City where he serves as an active teaching artist and private instructor with The Studio, TADA! Youth Theater, and the Metropolitan Opera Guild. Michael graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University with a B.M. in Vocal Performance, B.M. in Music Education and a Theater Minor. As a choral director and arranger, he has served as a clinician with choirs at high schools, universities, and community ensembles across the country, and recently worked as a consultant director for the initiation of the first established Hindu Choir in NYC. A member of American Choral Directors Association and a certified music educator, Michael has received awards for his educational pursuits from the Arizona Community Foundation, the Presser Foundation, George D. Umberson Choral Foundation, and the Herberger College of Fine Arts including the Outstanding Graduate Award. An enthusiast of multiculturalism, Michael resided in Ecuador in 2008 to conduct arts activities with a children’s organization and to study the musical traditions of the indigenous community, Los Tsa’chilas. He currently serves as the president of Arts InterFACE, a humanitarian nonprofit organization that seeks to provide access to the arts throughout the global community. As a performer, Michael’s recent professional credits include: Unbeatable (Off-Broadway, showcase), Dream a Little Dream: The Nearly True Story of the Mamas and Papas (John Phillips, WP), Crazy for You (Lank - AriZoni Award), Songs for a New World, Thoroughly Modern Millie(Jimmy), Camelot (Lancelot), and Dancing at Lughnasa (Michael -Irene Ryans Award).
